The Inverleigh Wind Farm is located 7km south east of Inverleigh and 10km north east of Winchelsea in Surf Coast Shire, Victoria. The project has been redesigned for up to 16 wind turbine generators with an indicative capacity of 6.2MW, co-located solar generation and battery storage. Subject to final turbine selection, solar and battery storage sizing, the installed capacity is anticipated to be up to;
- 99.2MW of wind being 16 WTG at 6.2MW:
- 55,000 solar panels being 18-22MW AC: and
- 10 battery storage containers being 24MW.
Giving an indicative total installed capacity of up to 145.2MW, the wind and solar will provide enough power for up to 63,000 average sized Victorian homes and require an investment of approximately AUD$200-220 million.
The site was previously know as the Winchelsea Wind Farm and received approval for 13 wind turbine generators and associated equipment from the Council and on appeal to VCAT in 2008. The generation of wind power along with the co-location of solar generation and battery storage at Inverleigh Wind Farm will provide construction and ongoing jobs for Victorians and help meet the State Government’s Victorian Renewable Energy Target while supporting the local network.
